About Avasara:

Avasara Academy is a progressive secondary school that educates girls of exceptional promise for a lifetime of leadership and contribution to society. Outstanding students, selected on merit, engage in a specialized curriculum that combines academic excellence with Leadership, Entrepreneurship and India Studies. At Avasara, the learning experience includes faculty advisors, mentors, independent study opportunities, small class sizes, a diverse group of talented students, and a curriculum of extraordinary depth. Avasara believes that a student's ability to pay fees should not affect her chances to experience this unique and holistic educational opportunity. Selection of the students for the scholarships was based on academic scores and financial situation of the girls. The CSR team of Atul Inamdar, Vinayak Deshpande and Lalita Vasu met the students one-on-one before finalizing the scholarships.

These students will receive the scholarship from Alfa Laval for a period of five years i.e. standard 6th students till they pass 10th standard and standard 8th students till they complete their 12th standard. A periodic progress report of these children will be received by Alfa Laval from the school.

Engagement with Avasara will be the biggest project undertaken by CSR for the year 2018 and it compliments Alfa Laval’s business principle under Community Engagement which states, “Alfa Laval wants to make a positive contribution to the local community, appropriate to its size as an employer in the community. We will place emphasis on activities that support the development and care of children’s rights, education and health.”  Says Anantha, “I am so happy that Alfa Laval has taken up this project and we hope to be able to contribute to sustainable development of this community and support these bright girls in achieving their dreams”.

This initiative also supports two of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (Global Goals) namely

  1. Quality Education
  2.   Affordable & Clean Energy.

A detailed yearlong employee engagement program is being chalked out with the school to make the engagement of Alfa Laval planned and meaningful.
