Alfa Laval India CSR Sustainability initiative on Education

Inaugurates new school infrastructure to Samarth Vidya Mandir Madhayamik School in Velvand

Pune, April 18, 2018: Alfa Laval India under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative inaugurated the new building of Samarth Vidya Mandir Madhayamik, School located in Velvand, a remote village about 20 Kms from Bhor where the company has built a new building having 7 classrooms and modern toilets for girls and boys. The Company has also provided the school with furniture like cupboards, teacher’s tables, chairs, LED lightings.

The inauguration was done at the hands of Anantha Padmanabhan, Managing Director Alfa Laval India and Cluster President for India Middle East and Africa. Anantha states “Company’s Mission is to create better everyday conditions for people through work in the focus areas for a positive contribution to the community at large. Alfa Laval’s Business Principles encompassing Social and Environmental elements amongst others describe the way the corporate must act so as to unearth boundless opportunities to make a positive contribution to a more sustainable future for India.”

Mr Mattias K Andersson, Director Operations, Alfa Laval India who presided as Chairman of the function said “Alfa Laval’s mission is to create better everyday conditions for people through our work in the focus areas for a positive contribution to the community at large. Our focus is on the broad development of the communities located in backward areas across the country and supporting this school with education infrastructure is one of the examples”

About the Samarth Vidya Mandir Madhayamik School:

This higher secondary school caters to children from marginalized and less privileged backgrounds who live in the radius of 35 Kms of Velvand. This is the only school in the village providing education from VIIth to Xth standrard (High School), but they also cater to children from the neighbouring schools for hostel facility for needy children from Vth standard The school has had 100% result in Xth standard for the last two consecutive years.

Present during the occasion were Shri Vijayrao Ganpatrao Mohite ,Chairman of Samarth Vidya Prasarak Mandali,  Shri Dilip Sahebrao Satkar, President of Ramrajya Sahakari Bank Limited, Pune, Shri Ravindra D. Pangul Sarpanch of Velvand,  Shri Babanrao Pangul head of local police administration, Velvand  and 6 Sarpanchs and 2 heads of local police adminstration from the nearby villages along with Alfa Laval employees.

In order to achieve this broad objective, Alfa Laval India has selected and prioritized some of the vital opportunities that will deliver better everyday conditions for people in the community. The focus areas under CSR for the Indian subsidiary are . Sanitation and Hygiene. Education, Healthcare, Advanced skill development, Environmental sustainability, Gender equality/ Women empowerment, Technology incubators.
